Abstract
Si3N4-TiN-SiC multiphase ceramics was synthesized from TiSi2 and SiC powders by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis method. Combustion synthesis was carried out from different diluent content materials under different nitrogen pressures. The relative density of final product and conversion degree of reactant were calculated and XRD analysis was conducted. The results show that high nitrogen pressure is advantageous to the increase of conversion degree and the relative density of product. Conversion degree of reactant increased with diluent content. Maximum of relative density is obtained from 35 wt% diluent content materials for the compact with 53 vol% porosity, and SiC is nitrified when the diluent content is higher than 35 wt%.
