Study on the change of learning behavior pattern and the improvement of spatial adaptability in universities under the background of epidemic prevention and control: A case study of Harbin Institute of Technology

In order to meet the requirements of prevention and control of major infectious diseases, universities have adjusted the teaching order, and the learning behavior pattern of students has changed accordingly. However, most public learning spaces in universities have yet to make timely adjustments to the change in the learning pattern of students, resulting in a mismatch between learning space and behavior pattern, which is not conducive to the efficient operation of university functions. Taking the Harbin Institute of Technology as an example, this study analyzes the relationship between activity intensity and learning behavior patterns of public learning spaces in universities under epidemic prevention and control with the data analysis method. The results show that the change in in-class learning patterns significantly impacts on the vitality of public space. Finally, the study suggests improving spatial adaptability, including dividing static and dynamic classrooms, equipping e-learning facilities, and replacing space functions. These have positive significance for solidifying the role of research and learning functions in universities.
