Abstract

The stress-sensing properties of cement mortar with nano-TiO2 or black carbon were experimentally studied and compared with that of the plain cement mortar. The results show that under the monotonously loading scheme, the mortar with nano-TiO2 and cement paste with black carbon both have stress-sensing ability, though there has some difference between these two kinds of cement-based composites. Furthermore, the resistance variation of cement mortar with nano-TiO2 can predict the damage status of the material.
