Study on springback of aluminum alloy panel based on VPF

Abstract

To research the effects of viscous pressure forming (VPF) process on springback of aluminum alloy panel, the springback of double-curved panel formed by the VPF process was investigated by using numerical simulation and experimental methods. The springback characteristic of the panel by VPF was analyzed and compared with that of panel by stamping. The results show that the positive and negative springback occur by VPF, however, it is only the positive springback occurs by stamping. Furthermore, the springback value of VPF formed panel is smaller than that of panel formed by stamping. With the increasing of panel depth, the value of positive springback decreases and the value of negative springback increases.
