Abstract

In this paper, a new light trapping structure of the solar cell is proposed on the basis of analyzing how the surface microstructure and thickness of the solar cell will effect on its energy loss. A Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) method is used to simulate the optical transmission process of the solar cell with light trapping structure. The energy storage and light-harvesting properties of the solar cell with light trapping structure are obtained with different incident source waves. Furthermore, a design optimization of the light trapping structure is used to demonstrate the light-harvesting ability.
