Study on preparation and electrical properties of 0-3 PLZT/IPN piezoelectric composites

Abstract

La modified lead zirconate titanate (PLZT) gel powder was prepared by sol-gel method and the heat treatment process was determined by TG-DTA. The PLZT ceramics with nanometer sizes could be achieved. The effects of La-doping concentration and presintering temperature on crystal transformation and ceramic properties were investigated. The appropriate doping concentration of La is 2 wt% and pre-temperature is between 700 to 870°C. Then, 0-3 type PLZT/interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) piezoelectric composites were prepared by solution mixing method. The morphology of composites was observed and the influence of frequencies on the dielectric properties was detected. The results indicated that the powders keep good dispersion state in the composites and lower pore ratios. The dielectric constant and dielectric loss increases as La-doping increasing. While the dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the composites both decreases compared with that of PLZT.
