Abstract

The accurate measurement of high-power laser near-field fluence distribution leads to a correct assessment of the output beam quality. In this paper, the nearfield fluence distribution is measured by a scientific-grade CCD in a hundred-Joule-level laser system. The experimental method of filtering the background noise in original near-field image is studied. Compared with the other method of filtering background noise, the experimental method is simple and accurate. Results show that this method can measure and correctly extract the image of near-field distribution in high-power lasers.
