Abstract

A geometrical analysis was made to investigate the wrinkles behavior of Extra Vehicular Activity Glove(EVA glove) clue to bending and the stress distribution of cross-section of the wrinkled region was analyzed, in addition, the change of volume within the EVA glove owing to Brazier effect was calculated. As a result of above. The relationship among the bend angle, internal pressure and external force was established, which indicate the EVA glove has different bend mode from rigid beam. In order to measure the damping force of EVA glove, a new type of exoskeleton mechanism has been developed by combination of parallelogram link and gear. When placed on the bark of EVA glove in an external way, this mechanism can drive the EVA glove's finger to extent or flex like human finger's grasp motion. The force sensor located at the tip of exoskeleton mechanism measured the EVA glove's damping force when flexion or extension motion is occurred. The force with hysteresis characteristic can reach to 8N. Finally, the proposed relationship was validated by experiments.
