Study on mapping design method of non-circular gear

Abstract

In order to make the designing and manufacturing of non-circular gear easier, a method to obtain the parameters of non-circular gear is presented. The method includes that 1) using the mapping method to obtain the number of teeth, the center distance, the tooth depth, the pressure angle and the tip curve of a non-circular gear pair; 2) using calculating method time and again to determine the module, the coefficient of addendum and the coefficient of tip of the non-circular gear pair and then one non-circular gear's pitch curve of the non-circular gear pair is obtained; 3) using conjugate pitch curve method to obtain another non-circular gear's pitch curve of the non-circular gear pair. Applying the method presented in this paper, two pairs of real non-circular are designed and manufactured, which proves the method to be feasible and effective.
