Abstract
Based on the internal force distribution of simply supported beams under four-point bending, LP steel plates are applied to the web of steel beams, and a web longitudinally thickened welded steel beam is proposed to reduce the amount of steel used in steel beams. According to the thickness change rate and web width/thickness ratio, two test steel beams with longitudinally thickened webs were designed, and their damage patterns, ultimate load carrying capacity, and local stability performance were investigated by four-point bending tests. Subsequently, based on ANSYS to carry out numerical simulation analysis, based on effective and reasonable numerical model through the parameter analysis to compare the difference between the local stability performance of the web equal thickness and the web thickening, and at the same time to carry out the rule of change of the ultimate load carrying capacity of the steel beams under the different web width/thickness ratios.
