Abstract

In order to explain the stable directional radiation characteristics of dielectric rod antenna, a traveling wave model is established based on the simulation of the electric field distribution in the dielectric rod. The dielectric rod antenna is regarded as a traveling wave continuous array with small aperture and the pattern function expression of dielectric rod antenna in broadband is obtained in the model, and the patterns drawn by the expression are in good agreement with the patterns obtained by CST Microwave Studio® software simulation, which proves the correctness of the proposed method. The simulation results show that the field distribution in the dielectric rod is the traveling wave mode.
