Abstract

In subarray level phased array, it requires digital beam scanning at subarray level in many applications, for instance, multiple beamforming. In this case, the suppression of pattern sidelobe is critical. Based on the desired subarray pattern with circular projection area, the weighting network has been constructed. Consequently, new subarray patterns are obtained by post-processing the subarray outputs, thereby the pattern sidelobe suppression is realized for subarray level scan. Compared with the method based on desired subarray pattern with rectangular projection area, the introduced method improves the sidelobe suppression performances. Simulation results demonstrate the validity of the theoretical analyses.
