Abstract
The contact conditions were analyzed and the contact model for flexible bodies was established, including the nonlinear spring model and the tangential Coulomb friction model. Then the contact model was associated with the equations of flexible multi-body system. The contact process of a flexible beam in gravitational field was dynamically simulated to prove the validity and correctness of the model. The dynamic response, including the angular displacement and angular velocity, the time course of contact force and the rule for terminal displacement and velocity were discussed. The differences between the processes of flexible and rigid beams were compared and discussed. The results show that the nonlinear spring model is available in contact dynamics for flexible multi-body system.
