Abstract

The effective bond between Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) sheet and concrete is the basis of ensuring composite action of hybrid FRP-concrete structures. The bond behavior between FRP sheet with FRP shear key and concrete was studied by experiment on a single shear test setup. Test invariables including the height, the width and the length of shear key, appending coarse-sand-coating and concrete compressive strength were considered. Test results indicate that the length of shear key, appending coarse-sand-coating and concrete strength have significant effects on the bond strength between FRP sheet and concrete, while the height and the width of shear key have small effects. The proposed design methods of FRP shear key can be used for shear design of the interface between FRP sheet and concrete in FRP-concrete composite structures.
