Study on biodegradable dissolved organic carbon variation in water distribution system

Abstract

For the water treatment plant with raw water coming from surface water and the corresponding distribution networks, this study investigates the variation of biodegradable dissolved organic carbon (BDOC) and factors affecting its variation. It is concluded that: the variation of BDOC concentrations in water distribution system is due to the balance of two factors: free residual chlorine and total bacterial counts; the water temperature is also a very important factor, and the variation changes with different seasons.
