Abstract
The gain increase in magnetron amplifiers is considered. A new design of the combined device with higher gain in comparison with classic devices (i.e., TWT or amplitron) is proposed. The main principles of device operation and a technique of modeling the electron-wave processes are considered. The presented results of the calculations of the output macroparameters (gain, efficiency) of the combined amplifier are compared with experimental data. The switch-on of the external amplifier stage in the operating internal stage results in the gain growth by 5-7 dB with the efficiency decrease by 4 - 6%.
