Abstract

This paper analyses the operating principle of the shunt active power filter. The main circuit of the shunt active power filter selects a three-leg voltage-source inverter with split dc link capacitors, and a dynamic hysteresis-band current control is used. A control strategy based on the instantaneous power theory is given in consideration of the source voltage becoming distorted and unbalanced, which can compensate the reactive power and harmonics completely for three-phase four-wire systems. The system is simulated with Matlab, and the simulation results show that the strategy is correct.
