Abstract
Using continuous simulation tests, the operating conditions in a model pond for a high concentration synthetic tannery wastewater were analysed. Given the inevitable limitations in reaction-kinetics studies of biodegradable substrates in model ponds by conventional continuous and batch simulation tests, a new method (namely the 'Cross-Sectional Initial-Velocity' method. CSIV) was developed as a solution. This work confirmed that the reaction order was variable. Simply, the reaction order continuously increased along the flow direction of the model pond from 0 to 2.5.
