Abstract

One of the impediments to the wide application of electrical discharge machining (EDM) is the complexity of the process planning. To solve the complex problem of EDM technique puzzling the operators, in this paper, an intelligent CAPP system is implemented. A formalized representation for the complicated techniques knowledge of EDM is constructed, based on which Rules-based Simply Petri Net(SPN) is set up for intelligent selection of machining method and Genetic Algorithm is used to achieve a global optimization.
