Abstract

In order to deeply exploit the new way of utilization of the nutritional and medicinal value of kelp, the kelp was bioconverted by the medicinal fungus and extraction conditions of the bioconverted products were optimized. The hypoglycemic activities of extracts from the bioconverted kelp were investigated. The effects of three different extraction conditions on product yield and hypoglycemic activity were studied firstly, the results showed that under the extraction condition of 2Y (solid-liquid ratio 1:42, water-extraction time 163 min), the product yield and the hypoglycemic activity were the highest, with the product yield of 468.6 mg/g and the hypoglycemic activity of 15.20 % ± 0.04 % at the concentration of 0.2 mg/mL. Furthermore, the IC50 of a-glucosidase activity of different extracts was determined, the results showed that the IC50 of the product from bioconversion of kelp by medicinal fungus was 0.67 mg/mL, which was 49.50% lower than that of the product extracted from non-bioconverted kelp. The hypoglycemic activity of products from bioconversion of kelp was significantly higher than that of product from non-bioconverted kelp. Therefore, the bioconversion of kelp by medicinal fungus has provided a new and profound resource utilization mode for high value-added utilization of kelp and promoted the development of highly active hypoglycemic health products, which has broad application prospects.
