Abstract

Compound ceramic coatings on TC4 alloy were prepared by pulsed bi-polar micro-plasma oxidation in NaAlO2 system. The phase composition and morphology of the coatings and the effects of the coatings on the acid corrosion resistance of TC4 were studied. The results show that the ceramic coating is composed of Al2TiO5, α-Al2O3 and rutile TiO2. The coating is composed of compact inner layer and loose outer layer. The corrosion resistance of the coated samples is improved 5 times than that of TC4 substrate in H2SO4 and HCl. While the corrosion rate of the coated samples in HNO3 is actually the solution rate of the coatings in it.
