Abstract
A 1-dimension diffractive optical element (DOE) is designed using the conjugate gradient algorithm to perform the strength combination of 5 laser beams. Numerical results show that the efficiency is more than 95.7% while the error is less than 0.13% when the DOE's phase is 32 level quantized. This method can be easily extended to a two-dimension case.
