Abstract

A diode-pumped passively Q-switched Tm, Ho:YVO4 laser with a Cr2+:ZnS saturable absorber was demonstrated. A stable Q-switching operation was achieved when the pump power was changed from 3.7 to 6.5 W. A pulse duration of nearly 100 ns was generated at a pump power of 6.5 W, corresponding to the maximum average output power of 0.44 W with a repetition rate of 2.9 kHz and a pulse energy of 150 μJ.
