Abstract

In order to extract and represent spatial semantics from linguistic expressions, a method is proposed based on an extension of Kinstch's Construction-Integration (CI) model. Compared with the traditional feature-based methods, it can implicitly integrate the contextual and general knowledge into the calculating process. Firstly, we define a propositional spatial semantic representation, and generate a sequence of proposition candidates using Chinese Proposition Bank to construct a text base network. Then the contextually appropriate spatial propositions of the net will be strengthened and inappropriate ones will be inhibited through iteratively spreading activations until the network stabilizes. Finally, the experimental result shows an encouraging performance on two datasets.
