Abstract
The space cable-strut deployable articulated mast working principle and its driving principle are specified. Manufactured a set of space cable-strut deployable articulated mast and its driving mechanism which can deploy and retract the mast smoothly. The gravity balancing device has been designed and assembled, and zero gravity ground simulation tests have been done for the mast deployment and retraction. Mast bay mechanics have been analyzed and calculated when critical rigidization moment of the mast deployment and retraction process. The motor output torque of driving mechanism changes process during the mast deploys and retracts has been measured through the experiment tests. The theoretical analysis result has been compared with experiment tests result and validates the correctness of the theoretical analysis. Influence of gravity, deployment speed, tip load mass supported by the mast and its inertia disturbance on the dynamic characteristics of the driving mechanism has been tested and analyzed. The repetitive deployment precision of the mast has been tested and it concludes that the mast has very high repetitive deployment precision and high positioning precision.
