Abstract

In this paper, the oxidation behavior of the TiBw/TA15 composite has been studied at 950 °C under laboratory air for 2 h, 4 h, 6 h and 8 h. Overall, the alloy shows a slight mass gain in all oxidation times. The scale formed at present conditions is very similar. The outer layer is the Al2O3 scale, and the inner layer is the TiO2 scale. A possible schematic diagram of the oxidation mechanism is carefully established to reveal better TiB's positive effect of on the oxidation process for TiBw/TA15 composite at elevated temperatures.
