Abstract

Sizing equations are important for driving motor design. Most current sizing equations were established based on the stator inner diameter. But for driving motors used in electric vehicle, ship or other transportation system, they often operate under more complex conditions and to decide the dimension parameters by stator outer diameter is more practical. So in this paper, new sizing equations were set up based on the derivation of motor's design equations. The power of motor could be calculated directly by stator outer diameter. Test results show that the equations' accuracy was sufficient for driving motor initial design.
