Single-atom modification strategy for highly stable electrochromism

Abstract

Electrochromic devices (ECDs) with reversible adjustment optical properties are gathering increasing attention in both academia and industry, exhibiting great promise in emerging energy-saving electronics, such as smart windows, and non-emissive displays. However, fabricating electrochromic devices with high cyclic stability remains challenging. In a recent work published in Cell Reports Physical Science, Zhang et al. synthesized a novel electrochromic material by modifying V2O5 using a single tungsten atom, which exhibited rich color response and excellent electrochemical redox stability, providing a new idea for practical applications of ECDs.
