Abstract

A double-stage coupled heat pump (DSCHP) system, which is coupled an air-to-water heat pump and a water-to-water heat pump is firstly presented in this paper based on analyzing the characteristics of the villa district heating. This is followed by the prediction and analysis of its feasibility when operating in cold areas. Then a mathematical mode of such system is developed by using the lumped parameter method, and the volume of the heat storage tank is decided to get maximal heating seasonal performance factor (HSPF) during the heating period. Furthermore, the operation performance of the double-stage coupled heat pump system used in Beijing is analyzed. Results show that the novel heat pump system can be used for space heating for villa in cold areas and such system provides a kind of energy-saving and environmental protection heating style for cold regions.
