Simulation and fabrication of the micro compressor for micro turbine engine

Abstract

A new micro 3D structure of compressor was designed and simulated by FLUENT software, and the compressor pressure ratio is about 1.86, so the structure of micro compressor is feasible. A metal micro compressor with complex 3D structure was fabricated by the micro-electrical discharge machining (EDM). The diameter of compressor is 3.0 mm, and 1.5 mm in height. The height of each blade is 0.4 mm, 0.1 mm in thickness, and 8 blades. The material of work-pieces is nickel alloy GH4169.
