Abstract

Aiming to accurately analyze the influence of DC bias on converter transformer losses, a three-dimensional (3D) finite-element analysis (FEA) model is established for simulating the harmonic losses in structural parts of converter transformer. By adding the losses in structural parts of each harmonic, the total losses can be obtained. The accuracy of the presented method is verified by simulating the harmonic losses in structural parts of converter transformer without DC bias. Finally, the harmonic losses in structural parts under DC bias of 5.94A, 9.9A and 19.8A are simulated. Compared with rated operating condition, the losses increased 3.98%, 7.54%, and 13.46% respectively in the structural parts.
