Abstract

By taking advantage of cohering and filling properties of repairing adhesive, a smart self-repairing concrete with damage self-repairing performance has been developed by embedding capsules containing adhesives into concrete beams during casting. Full process behavior of damage self-repairing was simulated by finite element analysis software ANSYS. Mechanism of damage self-repairing was systematically analyzed. Correctness and rationality of the computation and analysis method were verified through experiments. Experimental results show that the repairing adhesive from the broken-open capsules can repair the damage and cracks induced by overloading and improved the strength of the cracked portions of concrete to maintain the structural durability.
