Abstract

Considering the composition of vehicle type, vehicle capability and saturation changes on urban arterials, freight arterial was selected as the research object so as to analyze its impact on traffic delays. Then, traffic control parameters and their change mechanisms were discussed and the corresponding signal control method was constructed, including optimization of yellow time determination, signal cycle and phase difference. West Liaohe Road in Dalian, Liaoning Province was considered as the investigation object of freight arterial and fleet delay, queue length, number of stops, the air pollution index were decided as the evaluation index vector. Basic data obtained by VISSIM simulation made non-dimensional treatment with subordinate degree pattern. Considering internal variation rules of evaluation parameters and traffic volume and characteristics of different intersections, index weights were decided by the largest eigenvector of expert judgement and maximum deviation method respectively. Confidence level criterion was used to determine evaluation vector of control effect. The result shows that this proposed method can reduce vehicle delay and can improve the efficiency of transportation.
