Abstract

This paper studies the maximal serving radius and serving radius of pedestrian crossing facilities in order to analyze their service scope and service capability. The delay and hazard degree of pedestrians walking through the road is analyzed, and the psychology characteristics and crossing expenditure of pedestrians are studied. A concept of the maximal serving radius of pedestrian crossing facilities and its calculation method are proposed, which is testified by an example. By analyzing the maximal serving radium and the pedestrians' psychology and behaviors, the determination method of serving radius of pedestrian crossing facilities is obtained, and then a proposal that using the serving radius of pedestrian crossing facilities to judge the reasonableness of the facility application and define the principles of choosing the pedestrian crossing route is put forward. This study is beneficial to the scientific and effective setting of pedestrian crossing facilities.
