Abstract

The semi-solid vibration brazing was successfully utilized in bonding of SiCp/ZL101A composites, in which twice vibration was introduced in brazing. When temperature was 375°C, the most of oxide film on the Al substrate was disrupted by the first vibration bonding. Filler metal with semi-solid character was the key to succeed in bonding of Al MMCs, which was hard to extrude out and helped to disrupt of oxide film on the substrate during vibration brazing. However, porosities in joint brazed by the first vibration bonding were strictly limited strength of joints. Then, the porosities was extrude out during the second vibration bonding at 520°C. Hence, shear strength of joint brazed by the second vibration bonding was 160 MPa.
