Abstract

High frequency surface wave radar (HFSWR) works in the shortwave band, and the electromagnetic environment is very complicated, so it is difficult to find a "Quiet Frequency" for ensuring HFSWR work stably for a long time. Frequency monitoring system is introduced into the radar system to provide the best operating frequency real-time. This paper proposes a method based on Empirical mode decomposition (EMD) and Support vector machine (SVM) to forecast the spectrum of the next accumulation cycle, and then get average power spectrum and fluctuation information by sliding window, finally select frequency. Through simulation and actual data confirmation, the method forecasts spectrum accurately and works well. It provides a good method to select the optimal frequency in HFSWR.
