Abstract
This paper conducts a shaking table test study on seismic response of elevated-cap pile groups of bridge in liquefiable ground. The soil profile in the test consisted of the horizontal saturated sand layer overlaid the silty clay layer. The base was excited by three different El Centro earthquake events. It showed that acceleration response of sand layer bottom-up appeared to transform from gradual decrease to gradual increase as the sand gradually liquefied. The inertial force of bridge superstructure as well as elevated cap and the degree of soil liquefaction all influenced acceleration response of piles to some extent.
