Abstract
Unitary MUSIC (U-MUSIC) is known to have much lower computational complexity than the standard MUSIC. However, U-MUSIC still involves high-complexity spectral function search computations. In this fast communication, a novel sector-based formulation of U-MUSIC is proposed for fast direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation with further reduced computational complexity. The proposed sector U-MUSIC (SU-MUSIC) algorithm reduces the computational complexity by limiting the exhaustive spectral function search into a small angular sector instead of the total angular field-of-view, and therefore, it is computationally very attractive. Simulations show that with significantly reduced complexity, SU-MUSIC can provide satisfactory accuracy similar to U-MUSIC.
