Abstract

A fast modeling method to calculate the scattered field in heterogeneous media is introduced in this work. The total field is calculated by the phase-screen propagator, which is a wide-angle one-way wave propagator and therefore includes the forward scattering effect of the heterogeneities in the calculation. Then the representation integral is used to calculate the scattered field. After presenting the theory and method of implementation, numerical examples are given to demonstrate the feasibility of the method. It is shown that the method can calculate the scattered field for large scatterers with much superior quality over the Born approximation.
