Review on very high frequency power converters

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

With the fast development of power electronics techniques, very high frequency (VHF) power converters (30-300 MHz), which can greatly reduce the number and volume of passive components and help to improve system power density, gradually become research focus. However, at such high operating frequencies, many challenges have been proposed, such as switching characteristics, topologies characteristics, and control methods. This paper starts from the development background of VHF power converters. Then a state-of-the-art overview of VHF development is described. Different topologies adopted in VHF conditions are introduced and compared. At the same time, the resonant driving strategies and the corresponding control methods for VHF converters are discussed and analyzed, which can provide reference for further research of VHF converter.
