Abstract
Multi-terminal direct current (MTDC) technology has the characteristics of multiple starting points and multiple placement points. As the most promising way of new energy connectinggrid, MTDC is the main trend of dc power grid development. MTDC system control strategy is one of the most key technologies to achieve system stable operation. This paper starts with the background of MTDC technology development, and an overview of MTDC development is discussed. The main power coordinate control methods and the existing problems of current MTDC system are introduced, and the analysis of MTDC system control and protection methods are discussed to provide reference for further research of MTDC.
