Abstract
Large capacity non-salient pole synchronous generator is the core equipment for energy conversion in the power system. Its high electromagnetic load bring severe thermal management challenges, especially the design and optimization of cooling systems, which have become a key bottleneck for improving equipment performance. This review systematically elaborates on the latest research progress in the field of thermal management systems for large capacity non-salient pole synchronous generator in recent years. First, an in-depth exploration is conducted on the loss and heating mechanisms of large capacity non-salient pole synchronous generator, revealing the mechanisms and laws of heat generation. Secondly, from the three dimensions of the stator winding, rotor winding, and stator core of a large capacity non-salient pole synchronous generator, combined with efficient electromagnetic and heat transfer analysis methods, the internal heat distribution and transfer process of the generator are deeply analyzed, and the characteristics and technical limitations of the existing cooling technology for large capacity non-salient pole synchronous generators are pointed out. Finally, the paper discusses key technical challenges that demand urgent resolution in the thermal management system of large capacity non-salient pole synchronous generators, and further explores the development trends of relevant cooling technologies.
