Abstract

Surfaces with a high contact angle (CA) and a low contact angle hysteresis(CAH) are of scientific interest because of their potential applications on self-fouling and fluid drag reduction in micro/nanofluidic systems. In this paper, superhydrophobic surfaces with different degrees of oleophobicity are prepared on soda-lime glass substrate using hydrophobic SiO2 nanoparticle and fluorinated acrylic copolymer(FAC) binder based on the spray coating technique. The nanoparticle to binder ratio(P-B ratio) is adjusted to study its effect on the CA and CAH of the surface for deionized (DI) water, hexadecane and ethylene glycol. The morphology of surfaces with P-B ratio of 0.3 and 0.6 are measured using atomic force microscopy (AFM). The effect of surface tension of liquid and roughness on the surface wetting property are analyzed.
