Abstract

This article has been retracted: please see Elsevier Policy on Article Withdrawal (https://www.elsevier.com/about/our-business/policies/article-withdrawal). This article has been retracted at the request of the Editor-in-Chief. 1. Kong et al. cite the work of Bushlya et al. Wear., 376 (2017), pp. 152–164 https://doi.org/10.1016/j.wear.2017.01.03 solely in the Introduction, without stating the usage of the original model for their own work, particularly in section 3.3. 2. Figure 7 a/b within this paper is almost identical to the original work by Bushlya et al., again without a citation. 3. Section 3.3. of this paper pretends to derive a wear model, however, the derivation stems from the original work of Bushlya et al. and is not cited. Furthermore, the model is adapted in a wrong and falsifying way. Plagiarism does not result from the wrong and falsifying utilization of an already existing, published model. Instead, it results from the implementation of the model (and corresponding figures) without citation. One of the conditions of submission of a paper for publication is that authors declare explicitly that their work is original and has not appeared in a publication elsewhere. Re-use of any data should be appropriately cited. As such this article represents a severe abuse of the scientific publishing system. The scientific community takes a very strong view on this matter and apologies are offered to readers of the journal that this was not detected during the submission process.
