Abstract

Biomedical titanium alloys have been applied widely in medicine clinic due to their excellent mechanical properties, corrosion resistance and biocompatibility, but they are not good enough in the aspect of anti-wear and bioactivity. Furthermore, corrosion resistance also needs to be improved further. Developing new biomedical titanium alloys, which possess better combined properties or surface modification on available clinical titanium alloys,is an effective approach to resolve the above-mentioned problems. This paper reviewed the development and the main problems of biomedical titanium alloys, and research status of surface activating on biomedical titanium alloys. The prospect of surface activating on biomedical titanium alloys is presented.
