Research on the regenerative braking control strategy for hydrostatic transmission hybrid vehicle

Abstract

Hydraulic hybrid vehicle (HHV) is an application of hydrostatic transmission technology to improve vehicle fuel economy and emissions. Based on the analysis of the characteristics of braking in the city drive cycle and high power density of hydrostatic drive hybrid vehicles, a new type of brake control strategy tailored specially for HHV was proposed. Sliding mode control theory is used to design the controller of hydraulic pump/motor. Finally the simulation results showed that brake control system reasonably distributes the front and rear torque, regenerative braking torque and traditional friction braking torque, and it can effectively regenerate braking energy under the premise of safety brake.
