Abstract

This paper presents a new type of reducer for coring drilling for polar subglacial bedrock. The structure of the reducer is designed, and the strength of the reducer meshing parts is checked. According to the contact strength formula, the contact strength between movable teeth and meshing parts is estimated. ANSYS Workbench is used to analyze the statics of the reducer. The results show that the reducer meets the design requirements, and provides a basis for optimizing the reducer for polar subglacial bedrock coring drilling.
