N2 - Magnetic fluid is one kind of new function material which is stable colloidal suspensions of submicroscopic susceptibilities, possessing both magnetism characteristic of solid magnetic material and fluidity of the liquid. Magnetic fluid has the flotation property in the excited magnetic field. In this paper, the principle and the application of magnetic fluid were studied in the specific gravity test of objects. The magnetic field was calculated and analyzed. Test setting was designed, and experiments were carried out on the specific gravity test of objects and the results were analyzed. Finally, corresponding variation was obtained between the excited magnetic field(exciting current) with the specific gravity of objects. Experiments show that the effect is better, and good foundation has been made for further applications.
