Research on pyrolysis characteristics of typical plastics

Abstract

Based on the thermogravimetry analysis of five sorts of plastics namely high density polyethylene (HDPE), low density polyethylene (LDPE), polypropylene (PP), polystyrene (PS), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), representative of major polymeric materials of the waste plastic that can be pyrolyzed, their pyrolysis discipline has been studied under nitrogen atmosphere condition at different heating rate in the temperature range of 25-800°C. At the same time, the pyrolysis reaction kinetics has been carried out, and some kinetics parameters, such as the apparent activation energy E and frequency factor A, are worked out accordingly. These conclusions are useful for the deep research of pyrolysis technique and equipments.
