Abstract
CeO2(0.1wt%):MnCO3(0.1wt%):LN crystals with different Li/Nb ratios (1.38, 0.946) were grown by Czochralski method. The crystals are near stoichiometric LiNbO3 (SLN)crystals when the Li/Nb ratio is 1.38, while it is congruent LiNbO3(CLN) crystals when the Li/Nb ratio is 0.946. The IR spectra and the UV-absorption spectra were tested. The mechanism of the movement of the OH- vibration peak and the absorption edge were discussed. The exponential gain coefficient of Ce:Mn:LN crystals were measured with two-beam coupling, which of Ce:Mn:SLN crystals reach to 27 cm-2, and the mechanisms of the improvement of the exponential gain coefficient were studied.
